SAN ANTONIO—The San Antonio International Airport has added another airline as Frontier Airlines will begin flying from the Alamo city in May.

Frontier will offer non-stops to Atlanta, Denver, Las Vegas and Philadelphia.

Known for affordability:

Introductory rates will begin at $19 for a one-way ticket.

“The ability to expand air service through Frontier Airlines to the San Antonio population is one that we've been seeking diligently and I'm looking forward to working with frontier and offering those opportunities to our flying passengers,” said San Antonio Aviation Director Tom Jones.

Expansion of economy:

Getting new airlines to come to the Aolamo City has been the goal of the city of San Antonio and Chamber of Commerce. Councilman Joe Krier said more options are what will keep San Antonio ahead in the business world.

“We've known for a long time that we are in a global economy. The more non-stop routes San Antonio can have the better access we have to the global economy,” said Krier.

Allegiant Airlines also recently began operating at San Antonio International. Airport officials say passenger traffic increase by almost 2 percent in 2015.

The total international passenger traffic increased by over 11 percent.
