As the price to fill up at the pump keeps inching up, Senator Charles Schumer is hoping to speed up an investigation into possible price gouging.

The Federal Trade Commission has spent months looking into whether oil refineries were keeping prices artificially high.

However, Schumer and his senate colleague Claire McCaskill from Missouri say they want the results faster.

They say the answers could help find ways to stop the rise in prices at the pump.

According to AAA, gas prices now average $4.04 a gallon in the city, 30 cents higher than the national average of $3.74.
