Governor Andrew Cuomo announced Thursday that the Federal Emergency Management Agency has extended through March 10 its hotel sheltering program for Hurricane Sandy victims who lost their homes.

The Transitional Sheltering Assistance program has FEMA officials pay for temporary housing in hotels or motels for New Yorkers who lost their homes during the October storm.

FEMA officials are working on longer-term housing for affected New Yorkers.

To register for the program, Sandy victims can call 1-800-621-FEMA or apply at www.DisasterAssistance.gov.
