FDNY Honors Latest Bravest To Rise Through Ranks
The New York City Fire Department promoted 44 of its own Thursday, among them the son of a high ranking member of the department killed in the September 11th attacks.
At a ceremony in Long Island City, the department welcomed two new assistant chiefs, 10 new captains, and 32 new lieutenants.
Together they have more than 650 years of combined firefighting experience.
Among the newly minted lieutenants is Pete Ganci III, son of FDNY Chief Peter Ganci, who was killed on September 11, 2001.
