A worker had to be rescued Tuesday after his foot got stuck while inspecting the Roosevelt Island Tram.

Officials say the worker was doing an inspection about 200 feet up Tuesday morning when he got his foot caught between two wheels.

Emergency workers were able to lift the wheel off and get him into a rescue basket.

"He's a tough guy," said Tim Krumm of the Emergency Service Unit. "Most of these iron workers are tough guys. He was talking and he was doing fine."

The worker was taken to the hospital.

His employer said his injury is not life-threatening.
