Three Disaster Recovery Centers Close

By: NY1 News

Three disaster recovery centers for victims of Hurricane Sandy closed down for good Saturday.

The centers at the Social Security Building in Gravesend, Brooklyn, the Community Church of the Nazarene in Far Rockaway and the Sands Point Professional Building in Rockaway Park shut down at 6 p.m. Saturday.

FEMA said the number of visitors to these centers has slowed down.

More than 11,000 people visited the three sites while they were open.

Survivors can still visit other centers throughout the city, but weekend hours for those will be changing as well.

Centers will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays, but will be closed on Sundays.
