Dozens of underprivileged children picked out new sandals, high tops and flats Sunday at the Payless store in the Richmond Hill section of Queens.
The River Fund and the New York City Coalition Against Hunger have teamed up with Payless for the past four years, donating shoes to children as part of the Martin Luther King Jr. National Day Of Service.
The coalition has more events Monday in Queens and across the city. These are closed events and not open to the general public. To participate in MLKday.gov activities in general, type in your ZIP code at MLKday.gov.
