All Schools In DOE Buildings Closed By Sandy To Reopen By January 11

The city Department of Education said Thursday that they expect the remaining schools in DOE buildings closed after Hurricane Sandy to reopen by January 11.
DOE officials say nine relocated schools will be able to reopen to students between the days of January 2 and January 11.
P.S. 207 Rockwood Park is expected to reopen on January 2 after an asbestos abatement performed, temporary boilers were installed and power was restored.
The Channel View School for Research, Rockaway Park High School, Rockaway Collegiate High School and Beach Channel High School are also expected to reopen on January 2 after temporary boilers and generators were installed, and water was pumped out of the basement.
Temporary boilers and generators were also installed and water was also pumped out of the basement at P.S. 256 Annex at Beach Channel, which is expected to reopen on January 7.
P.S. 288 The Shirley Tanyhill and P.S. 105 The Bay School are also expected to reopen on January 7.
Scholars' Academy is expected to reopen on January 11 after an asbestos abatement was performed, temporary boilers and generators were installed, and water was pumped out of the basement.
Not all public schools will be reopen by January 11. Ninth and 10th graders at the John V. Lindsay Wildcat Academy Charter School will remain relocated until later this winter, according to the DOE.
In addition, one D75 program located at Peninsula Hospital will remain relocated until the spring.
