This holiday season is going to look a little brighter for many military families thanks to an organization within New York Hospital Queens.
For the tenth year in a row, the Freedom Medical Aid Team and local elected officials are collecting toys for children of deployed members of the military.
So far, more than 500 gifts have been donated to be handed out later this month at holiday parties.
"I think all toy drives are great because they're well intentioned, but this one has a special flavor to it," Stephen Mills, CEO of NYHQ said.
"We're not giving up. We're not giving up on them," Peter Kwiath, foudner of FreeMAT, said. "Everybody wants to stand by them, and we still want to help the children out."
The toy drive continues through Dec. 21.
Anyone interested in donating can drop off unwrapped gifts in the New York Hospital Queens lobby.
