North Shore-LIJ Hospital is helping residents in Broad Channel with a mobile medical van.
A team of volunteer nurses and doctors are staffing the vehicle and providing their services for free since many in the area are still without power and having a hard time getting medical care.
"We're seeing upper respiratory infections, treating that, reactive airway disease like asthma exacerbation," said Maria Carney of the North Shore-LIJ Health System. "We're seeing wounds, lacerations. We've giving out flu shots. We're giving out tetanus shots."
The van will be in Broad Channel again on Friday in front of the American Legion Hall.
