Two Abducted Bronx Boys Found Safe In Harlem; Police Search For Their Father

Two young boys who disappeared from the Bronx on Sunday morning were found safe inside a stolen vehicle in Harlem hours later, and police were searching that evening for the father who allegedly kidnapped them.

Five-year-old Nahzir Edwards and two-year-old Mlyliah Edwards were found in a stolen, gray 2005 Honda Accord sedan at East 128th Street and Park Avenue, according to police.

Authorities say Fitz Edwards, 29, took the boys around 5 a.m. Sunday from their home near Barber and Adee Avenues in Olinville, after having a domestic dispute with their 26-year-old mother.

Police say he fired a handgun once at the woman, missed her and set a small fire in her apartment that was quickly put out.

Edwards then walked with the boys three blocks away from the apartment, where police say he allegedly carjacked at gunpoint the Honda Accord.

The driver of the stolen car was not injured.

State authorities issued an amber alert that lasted several hours before the boys were found.

Edwards is described as being about 6-feet tall and 170 pounds with a slim build. He has braided, black hair, brown eyes and was last seen wearing a dark jacket.

He is considered armed and dangerous.
