Rep. Carolyn Maloney says Republicans in Congress aren't making the grade when it comes to women's issues.

Maloney released a scorecard Wednesday that rated the performance of the two major political parties at a press conference in Washington.

Maloney says that the GOP has reversed many of its pro-women positions of earlier decades and hasn't done enough to support family planning programs, access to affordable healthcare or the Violence Against Women Act.

Maloney says she is especially disturbed by Republican efforts to defund birth control programs.

She says the GOP's changing stances on women's issues is another sign of the high level of partisanship in Washington.

"The Republicans like to say there's not a war against women," Maloney said. "But in these efforts and in these 55 votes and in these differences, all the casualties are women and their families."
