Federal officials recently found heroin hidden inside hair treatment packages in a passenger's suitcase at John F. Kennedy Airport.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers said Emilce Cardona arrived on a flight from Colombia on July 25.

When they searched her baggage, officers said they found 38 packages of hair treatment that tested positive for heroin.

The total weight, including the heroin and the hair treatment, was more than eight pounds.

Cardona faces narcotics smuggling charges.
