Suspicious Device Forces Madrid-Bound Plane Back To JFK

A Delta jet bound for Madrid was forced to return to JFK Airport for an emergency landing last night after a passenger spotted strange wiring in a bathroom.
Flight 126 left the gate around 8 p.m. and returned more than an hour later.
The NYPD bomb squad and FBI met the plane on the tarmac as all 206 passengers were evacuated.
Four air marshals were on board at the time.
The wires were sticking out of both ends of a plastic straw.
They were determined to be harmless but authorities are still unsure where they came from or who put them there.
"You never know. These days anything could happen," said one air traveler.
"I don't think we're overreacting," said another traveler. "Cause it's better to be safe than sorry, and imagine if it would have been something."
Investigators questioned a woman who reported having difficulty breathing at the time the wires were discovered as well as a man who had been the last person to use the bathroom.
Both passengers were released.
