Just in time for Independence Day, the Staten Island Zoo has become a home for a bald eagle.
The seven-year-old female's left wing was amputated after it was injured when the bird flew into a transformer.
She is now perched near the zoo's Broadway entrance.
Bald Eagles generally live 20 to 30 years in the wild and 50 years in captivity.
