After making history with a no-hitter game this past Friday, Mets ace pitcher Johan Santana will get a couple of extra days rest, as team officials are worried about the stress on his arm.
Santana is coming off surgery that put him on the shelf for more than a year.
Santana threw a career high 134 pitches on his way to nailing the team's first no-hitter.
He will sit out the series with the first-placed Nationals in Washington, D.C.
However, the Cy Young Award winner will be back Friday when he will face the New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium to begin the Subway Series.
