John F. Kennedy International Airport had a nerve-wracking scene Wednesday as a Delta flight from Paris with a blown tire tried to land.

A Delta spokesman says Flight 185 to New York blew the tire while taking off from Charles de Gaulle Airport in France.

The crew was not sure if the tire was blown when the plane was airborne.

The spokesman said air traffic controllers with binoculars were able to see the deflated tire during a fly-by before the landing at JFK.

Tire debris was also found on the runway.

As a precaution, the airport rolled an emergency crew to meet the plane.

It was able to land safely with no additional damage.

Passengers got off the plane after workers inspected the aircraft.
