An off-duty school safety agent was awaiting arraignment Monday after being arrested on rape charges in Queens.

The New York City Police Department says Tommy Johnson, 28, is also charged with criminal weapons possession, menacing and assault.

Sources say Johnson raped his ex-girlfriend in Brooklyn over the weekend.

Johnson currently lives in Ridgewood, Queens, where neighbors say he resides with his mother.

Those who spoke with NY1 were surprised by the news.

"Wow. I don't know. He's nice," said one neighbor. "He's nice every time you see him he say hi, how you doing. That's it."

Johnson has been a school safety officer for over six years.

School safety officers are NYPD employees.
