The New York Mets will wear a special patch on their uniforms this season to honor the life and legacy of the late catcher Gary Carter.
The team's fan page on Facebook features a photo of the patch, with a home plate design, Carter's number 8 and his nickname, "The Kid."
Carter died on February 16 after a long battle with brain cancer at the age of 57.
The Hall of Fame catcher was a key member of the Mets' 1986 World Series championship team.
