Police on Thursday shot a man accused of trying to carjack an elderly driver in Queens.

Investigators say the suspect approached his 89-year-old victim while he was parked on Christie Avenue in Corona.

The suspect allegedly struck the victim with a gun and then fled the scene.

Police gave chase and the suspect later ran into a driveway on 46th Avenue.

An officer fired one round at the suspect when he turned to police holding a gun.

The weapon turned out to be a BB gun.

The suspect and the victim were both taken to the hospital in stable condition.
