Fire officials are looking into what sparked a fire Saturday that left four people injured in Queens.

The New York City Fire Department says it broke out around 2 a.m. in the kitchen on the top floor of a two-story apartment building located at 147-19 75th Road in Kew Gardens.

Family members say residents were forced to escape from a second story window.

"I looked out my window, and there was fire that coming from the kitchen window. My cousin had jumped out the window, and he was there with his girlfriend, and the girlfriend's five year old daughter. The girlfriend jumped out also, and the child, someone had caught the child also," said one of the victims' cousins, Christine Nugent.

One person was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Two others were also taken to the hospital with injuries ranging from minor to serious.

The fourth person was treated at the scene.
