Hundreds of employees of Peninsula Hospital in Far Rockaway, Queens protested the planned closure of their workplace in Wednesday.
Peninsula officials say they have taken steps to close the hospital in the face of mounting financial pressure.
If that happens, about 1,000 employees would lose their jobs.
Union workers and elected officials said the state Department of Health can save the hospital, if Governor Andrew Cuomo would give it more money.
By late Wednesday, the city Health Department has not yet returned NY1's request for a comment, but union officials say the department has worked with a nearby hospital to create some jobs for workers who would lose their jobs.
