State Senate sources tell NY1 a vote on a resolution relating to Senator Hiram Monserrate is likely to come early next week, but it is unclear what that resolution will be.

Last month, a senate committee found the Queens Democrat unremorseful following his conviction for misdemeanor assault stemming from an altercation with his girlfriend.

The panel recommended the senate vote to expel or censure Monserrate.

Last week, Long Island Democrat Brian Foley submitted a resolution to expel him. But Monserrate and his attorney say only voters should be able to remove him from office.

Senate Democratic Leader John Sampson says he will bring a resolution to the floor relating to Monserrate, but refuses to say what that resolution will be.

The decision is expected on Tuesday.

If Monserrate is expelled, the Democrats will lose their slim 32-seat majority and will no longer have enough members to pass legislation on their own.
