A woman is in critical condition after being hit Tuesday while crossing a street in Queens.
It happened at the intersection of Springfield Boulevard and Union Turnpike in Hollis Hill around 9:30 a.m.
Police say the woman was hit in the crosswalk by a Honda Civic driven by 52-year-old Queens resident Dennis Blum, who was trying to make a left turn onto Union Turnpike.
Blum says he simply didn't see the woman.
"She was in the green, she was right. It's just that I was making the left and I didn't see her because of the sun," Blum said.
The woman, who has not been identified, was transported to North Shore Hospital.
Police say there are no criminal charges against Blum at this time.
