Three teenage science superstars from the city are among the big winners in a nationwide math, science and technology competition.
Cathy Zhou and Israt Ahmed from Francis Lewis High School and Stephanie Chen of Stuyvesant High won third prize in the team division out of the more than 2,000 students who participated in the nationwide Siemens Competition.
They were honored for their work in electronically dating early tools used by hominids migrating through Europe. They will share $40,000 in scholarship money.
The top prize winner, Ruoyi Jiang, is the first student from Long Island to win the prestigious contest.
