Yankees pitcher Andy Pettitte suffered a broken ankle Wednesday after he was hit by a line drive.

The injury happened during the Bombers' afternoon matchup against the Indians.

Pettitte was hit on the left ankle by a ball off the bat of Casey Kotchman.

He tried to stay in the game but was taken out just one pitch later.

Pettitte is expected to miss at least six weeks.

The team does not expect him to need surgery.

The injury comes just hours after the Yankees put ace CC Sabathia on the disabled list with a strained groin.
