Multi-Billion-Dollar Revel Resort Takes AC Luxury To New Heights

Visitors can now revel in luxury at the Revel, a brand new, high-end resort in Atlantic City. NY1's Travel reporter Valarie D'Elia filed the following report.

Wonder what it's like to feel like a billion, or $2.4 billion to be more precise? Atlantic City's astronomically expensive, 47-story Revel, located beachfront near the end of the boardwalk, is designed to put guests in the lap of luxury.

Recently marking its official premiere with a series of Beyonce concerts in its very own 5,500-seat Ovation Hall, Revel is measured in superlatives. It is 6.3-million-square-feet situated on 20 acres, with 14 restaurants, 10 pools, a 32,000-square-feet spa and 2,349 slot machines.

The grand plan calls for 2,000 ocean view rooms. During a media visit, I noticed immediately that mine needed soundproofing.

You can say Revel is bringing the Atlantic City experience to new levels, literally, with its various floors described as how high they tower above the ample beachfront- which was still a construction site for Memorial Day.

For instance, the lobby is 114 feet above the boardwalk and "Revelry," the entertainment floor, is 61 feet above sea level. However, if the opening weekend is any indication, Revel is more about the "see and be seen" level and the skirts "above the knee level."

At face value, the non-smoking resort is as pretty as the young clientele but has some layout issues that can make finding one's way around tedious and even confusing. Visitors with mobility problems may find it especially difficult to navigate.

With mid-summer weekend rates as high as $500 a night, consider staying mid-week in June when rates are lower, or simply visit it as a hip nightlife and dining venue.
