"Babes In Toyland" At Lincoln Center
First up, from the mouths of babes, check out The Little Orchestra Society's update on Victor Herbert's 1903 holiday extravaganza "Babes In Toyland" at Lincoln Center's Avery Fisher Hall. Complete with 100 toy soldiers, the production is this Saturday at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. tickets start at $15.
"George Balanchine's The Nutcracker" At Lincoln Center
Another holiday favorite at Lincoln Center is the New York City Ballet in "George Balanchine's The Nutcracker." It's at the Koch Theater through December 30. Tickets start at $29.
"The Nutcracker" At BAM
The American Ballet Theatre also offers a lavish production of "The Nutcracker" at BAM. It runs from Friday through December 16. Tickets start at $25.
"Peter And The Wolf" At The Guggenheim
Another holiday treat is a new production of "Peter And The Wolf" at the Guggenheim Museum this weekend and next weekend. Isaac Mizrahi narrates and the set is by artist William Cotton. Tickets are $35.
Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater At City Center
The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater is at City Center though the end of the month for its annual winter season performances. Among the many offerings is the world premiere of "Another Night" by choreographer Kyle Abraham, which is set to Dizzy Gillespie's "A Night in Tunisia. Tickets start at $25.
Debbie Gravitte At Pace University
From Broadway Stage to concert hall, Debbie Gravitte is celebrating the season with her All-Star Holiday Show at Pace University’s Schimmel Center for the Arts this Saturday at 8 p.m. Tickets start at $30. Among the special guests is Tony nominee Norm Lewis.
Screenings Of The Met's "A Masked Ball"
Several movie theaters across the city are screening the Metropolitan Opera's production of Verdi's "A Masked Ball" at 1 p.m. Saturday. Next weekend is "Aida" Tickets are around $20, and the theaters are AMC Empire 25 West 42nd Street, Union Square Empire 14, Ziegfeld, College Point, BAM and Bronx Bay Plaza 13.
This Friday, get the story on storytelling on film at "Roughcut," a one-day moviemaking symposium at the Film Society of Lincoln Center's Elinor Bunim Munroe Film Center, from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Among the many featured speakers is movie star Liev Schreiber. Tickets are $35.
