Award-winning humorist David Rakoff has died.
The acclaimed writer died Thursday after a long battle with cancer.
Rakoff wrote for The New York Times, Newsweek and other publications. He was also a contributor to radio's “This American Life.”
Rakoff won the Thurber Prize for American Humor with his essay collection “Half Empty” in October.
Doubleday plans to publish Rakoff's final work next year.
David Rakoff was 47 years old.
