Andrade is at Birdland on West 44th Street, now through September 4th, with sets at 8:30 and 11 p.m. Admission is $30-$40.
Brunch at Smoke Jazz and Supper Clubsmokejazz.comAt Smoke Jazz and Supper Club, brunch is also on the menu. DeLaria offers jazz, comedy, and more in her show "Brunch with Lea DeLaria and Friends." It's every Sunday at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. And due to the popularity of the act, starting this weekend she'll be there most Saturday afternoons, as well. There is no cover charge. Register for the competition online, and starting Saturday morning, there will be clues to films shot in the city, like “Ghostbusters” and “Sleepless in Seattle.” Head to the location and take a picture of your re-enactment. There are prizes.
Big Bambúmetmuseum.orgAnd this weekend, come see Big Bambú on the roof garden of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. This huge bamboo structure is the creation of twin brothers Mike and Doug Starn. The interlocking bamboo poles form a cresting wave. The Starns, along with their team of builders and rock climbers, will continue to build Big Bambu through the fall. There are some restrictions for climbing on the structure. This weekend, the museum is open on Monday in honor of Labor Day.
