Gov. Andrew Cuomo surprised his father with a unique birthday gift Saturday.
Cuomo presented his father, former Gov. Mario Cuomo, with an official portrait for his 80th birthday.
The oil painting is based on a 1989 photo of New York's 52nd governor.
It will hang in the Hall of Governors at the State Capital.
Andrew Cuomo said his father, who served three terms, helped him learn the value of public service.
The painting was done by portraiture artist Simone Knox, whose works include the official White House portrait of former President Bill Clinton.
