Police say one person is in custody after an officer in Queens was hit in the head with an ax this afternoon.

The incident took place around 2 p.m. near Jamaica Avenue and 162nd Street.

The officer has been rushed to the hospital and is expected to survive.

It's still unclear how serious the injury is.
