Police say several people are in custody in connection with the shooting of a 10-year-old girl in Queens, but no arrests have been made as of 5 p.m. Saturday. The incident was one of several violent incidents around the city Friday night into Saturday morning. NY1's Erin Clarke filed the following report.

Quintina Portlock is tired of the violence in Far Rockaway.

"It's become a war," she said. "Somebody always gets shot."

This weekend, it hit home for her. Portlock's 10-year-old granddaughter, Brianna Palmer, was grazed by a bullet early Saturday morning, caught in the crossfire of two men shooting at others near a building on Dix Avenue.

"I want to know that justice will be done," Portlock said.

Neighbors said it's a shame that the streets aren't safe in the summer, when many children are out.

"It breaks my heart to know that this could happen to any of our kids," said neighbor Lissette Stennett. "I even want to keep my kids in the house and lock them in the house, but who can do that to their children? It's summertime. They're supposed to be out enjoying themselves, having a good time, and then for us to have to keep our children home because we have to worry about what's going to happen outside once they're outside playing, it's ridiculous."

Palmer's injuries were not considered serious.

The Far Rockaway shooting was one of five shootings or stabbings to happen throughout the city from Friday night into Saturday morning.

Four of the incidents resulted in death.

In the Bronx, Kahleed Adams, 19, was shot and killed on East 184th Street. Neighbors paid respect at a small vigil set up in front of his apartment building around the corner.

In Brooklyn, a man was shot on Hancock Street and pronounced dead at Kings County Hospital.

In another Queens shooting, two men were shot in Jamaica after leaving a club. One of the men survived and is in stable condition.

And in Manhattan, Michael Patalano, 48, was arrested for stabbing his 49-year-old neighbor to death.

Investigations in the Bronx, Brooklyn and Queens shootings are ongoing.
