A happy ending for a Queens woman who almost lost her life savings.

Magda Castillo's husband took their refrigerator to Atlantic Recycling in Ozone Park, without knowing she had thousands of dollars in cash stored inside.

Workers recovered the money after finding the fridge crushed between two cars.

A family member saw NY1's coverage of the incident and Castillo was reunited with the money.

"I'm very happy, thank God, and the very nice people who give me that money back," Castillo said.

"If somebody loses something, if you can help them, help them. It doesn't cost me anything to help her find her money, so it was just the right thing to do," said Michael Downer, an Atlantic Recycling employee.

The workers who recovered her cash were given a reward.

Castillo says she's now relying on a bank to keep her money safe. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
