Investigators are looking for a man allegedly involved in the sexual assault of a young boy at the South Street Seaport.

The NYPD has released a sketch shown above that they say depicts the man that they believe lured the 12-year-old boy into a bathroom stall at the Seaport's Pier 17 Tuesday night.

Police sources say the victim told his grandmother about the attack after the suspect ran off.

People NY1 spoke with were shocked by the details of the attack.

"I have two little boys that go to P.S. 276 right here in Battery Park City," said one person. "This is horrific. I don't understand that. Never, never have you heard of this.

"I don't have any words for that," said another. "I feel so sorry for him. I feel so sorry for the grandmother and the parents."

That is my first time hearing about it. Wow, that is horrible," said a third. "They should have more security or something to prevent that from happening."

The suspect is described as being in his 30s or early 40s.

He's believed to be about 5 feet, 8 inches tall, with brown and gray hair and some facial hair.

Police say they are combing through surveillance video from the Seaport.

Anyone with information on the case should contact the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS, or text CRIMES and then enter TIP577, or visit www.nypdcrimestoppers.com.
