A Queens lawmaker wants to give houses of worship damaged by Hurricane Sandy access to federal help.
Congresswoman Grace Meng says she'll try to attach an amendment to the Sandy Relief Bill that would make those places eligible to receive FEMA aid.
She says many synagogues, churches, mosques and temples applied for aid after the storm, but were denied.
The federal government does not include them on its list of private nonprofits that qualify for disaster aid.
Meng says her amendment would seek to add them to that list.
The House is set to vote on the $51 billion relief package by Tuesday.
