Police are searching for a man wanted for allegedly groping two girls at the downtown Flushing branch of the Queens Library last month. NY1's CeFaan Kim filed the following report.

Police said that a man whom they have surveillance video of groped two young girls in a public library on June 23. The footage was taken from inside the Flushing branch where cops say it happened.

Many Queens residents said they are disgusted because libraries are supposed to be a safe haven for children.

"If I was there I would've punched him," said one. "He must be sick. To come to a library where kids are and do things like that is sick."

The suspect is believed to be in his 40s. He is described as about 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighing 180 pounds. He was wearing a Yankees baseball cap.

Investigators said he walked up to a six-year-old girl and a nine-year-old girl, touched them inappropriately and fled.

Police say the two incidents happened on a Saturday at around 6:20 p.m. The Flushing branch on Main Street stays open late six days a week.
